Government Medical College Ernakulam, formerly known as Cochin Medical College was established in the year 1999 by the Co-operative Academy of Professional Education which comes under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of Kerala. The college offers 2 different UG courses i.e. MBBS, B.Sc Nursing, one diploma course- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery Course and 5 PG courses like MD psychiatry, MD pathology, MD General Medicine, MD Paediatrics and MD microbiology. The total intake capacity in these courses combined is 211. The college is registered under Kerala University of Health Sciences. The admission to the MBBS course is done through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).
