The Government Medical College and Hospital in the Aurangabad city is considered one of the famous medical colleges in the state of Maharashtra. The college is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences MUHS. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma programs under various specializations. The current intake at the college for UG courses is 150 whereas, for PG programs, it is 155 per year. Along with UG and PG, 50 are admitted to B.Sc. Nursing and 120 are admitted to BPMT every year. Admission to the courses is done on the basis of marks secured in the national level entrance exam i.e. NEET.

 A one-year internship program is available for the students in the Government Medical College and Hospital Aurangabad. Students are offered with clinical postings across a variety of wards like medicine, surgery, psychiatry, gynecology, etc. Students are also provided with a stipend during this internship period. After the internship period, students can either continue their service in a government hospital or they can also opt for private hospitals.
